| Most states will require an annual, or less frequent, report to be filed with the Secretary of State. Usually the necessary form will automatically be sent to the person your society has designated as it's Registered Agent at that person's address. There will probably be a filing fee of ten dollars or more and a penalty fee if the report is not mailed before a given deadline. Find out if the form will be mailed or if the society will have to pick it up each time. Since a separate form and fee is normally required to change name and address of the registered agent, it is recommended that that person be selected with some consideration as to permanence of membership and address.
